The Adventures of Francesca
Part 13
Guatemala to South Carolina,
another cruise completed
Hello to all our friends and family,
We left Myrtle Beach November 23, 2002 and returned to the dock April 17, 2004, a few days shy of 18 months. Quite a long trip even for us. Here are a few statistics. Francesca put 960 hours on her engines, ran the generator 730 hours and burned a total of 3075 gallons of diesel fuel. Based only upon the engine hours, and an average speed of 7.2 knots or 8.6 statute miles per hour, we covered a little over 8200 statute miles. The only significant machinery problem was the starboard transmission bearing. It was an otherwise perfect trip.
The last newsletter was sent from La Ceiba, Honduras on December 20, 2003. A few days after that the weather eased up enough for us to make a run for the Rio Dulce, Guatemala and we arrived there on Christmas eve. Mario's marina had a spot for us just ahead of Camryka. What a nice reunion and for Christmas too. (By the way, Camryka is currently underway and are halfway between Honduras and their initial destination of Jamaica)
